Crown Reduction

Crown reduction carefully reduces a tree’s height and spread while retaining a balanced, natural-looking framework. It can ease pressure on heavy limbs, create clearance and manage a tree that has outgrown its setting.

Thoughtful pruning, not topping

Good crown reduction follows suitable growth points and respects the tree’s species, age and condition. Removing too much in one visit can cause weak regrowth and unnecessary stress, so we recommend a proportionate specification after inspecting the tree.

A reduction may help to

  • Create clearance from buildings, roofs or neighbouring property
  • Reduce leverage on long or overextended branches
  • Improve light while keeping valuable tree cover
  • Manage size as part of a longer-term pruning plan

Before work begins

We check access, targets beneath the canopy and whether the tree may be protected. The agreed reduction is described clearly in your written quotation so you know what shape and result to expect.

For advice on a large or overgrown tree, send photographs or arrange a site visit with Woodvale.
