Stump grinding removes the remaining stump and major surface roots after a tree has been felled, leaving the area easier to landscape, replant or use again.
A neat, practical finish
Our specialist machine grinds the stump into small wood chips below the surrounding ground level. The required depth depends on what you plan to do next, so tell us whether the area will become lawn, planting, paving or part of a building project.
What we check
- Gate widths, steps and access to the stump
- Nearby walls, paving, fences and planting
- Underground utilities and other hidden obstructions
- How you would like the grindings handled
Grinding usually avoids the larger excavation needed to dig out an entire root system. It does not remove every root extending through the soil, but it deals effectively with the visible stump and immediate root plate.
